Congratulations to LAUSD/RAND/UCLA Staff for the following accomplishments:

Marleen Wong Awarded Outstanding Alumna Awardmarleen_picture_edit.jpg

Marleen Wong, Ph.D., was honored by her alma mater, California State University, Fresno,  as an Outstanding Alumnus on October 18, 2007, at an awards ceremony entitled The Top Dog Alumni Awards Gala.  A reading room in the Henry Madden Library has been named in her honor.

 

 

 


Lisa Jaycox Honored with RAND President's Award

Lisa Jaycox, Ph.D., senior behavioral scientist, was selected for a 2007 President's Award for her skillful leadership in the Gulf region for a project to assess school-based mental health programs for children who had experienced natural disasters or other trauma. The award will provide Lisa with research time and support to pursue activities related to career development or exploratory research. We congratulate Lisa on her excellent work!



Marleen Wong Commended by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors

The Board of Supervisors of the County of Los Angeles joins with the Inter-Agency Council of Child Abuse and Neglect in unanimously commending Marleen Wong, Ph.D. for her exceptional contribution to the at-risk youth and for the meritorious example she has set for all concerned members of the community.



Brad Stein and TeamHonored with AACAP Rieger Service Program Award for Excellence!

The American Academy of Child Adolescent Psychiatry honored Dr. Stein, Dr. Kataoka, and the Cognitive-Behavioral Intervention for Trauma in Schools (CBITS) program with the 2006 Norberta and Charlotte Rieger Service Program Award for Excellence! This award recognizes innovative programs that address prevention, diagnosis, or treatment of mental illness in children and serve as model programs to the community. Congratulations!


 

Grant Award:

TSAC staff is awarded a National Institute of Mental Health grant. 

Project Fleur-de-Lis" a collaboration effort with RAND and the Mercy Family Center in New Orleans.

The National Institute of Mental Health has awarded Dr. Jaycox a grant to fund the “Project Fleur-de-Lis”. This is a collaborative effort with RAND, the Mercy Family Center, and Allegheny General Hospital in New Orleans, LA. The project will evaluate TF-CBT and CBITS for students with PTSD symptoms in parochial schools in New Orleans following Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. Congratulations!



Robert Wood Johnson Foundation; Caring Across Communities

March 1, 2007 - Los Angeles

The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) today announced that the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) has been selected to participate in a new national program to reduce emotional and behavioral health problems among local children in need, particularly those from low-income immigrant and refugee families. The new program, Caring Across Communities: Addressing Mental Health Needs of Diverse Children and Youth, will provide LAUSD up to $300,000 to support mental health programs and services at Belmont High School's Newcomer Center and the LAUSD Immigrant Center over the next three years.                          More>>
