Adaptations Print E-mail

The following adaptations of CBITS have been developed:

Bienestar: Trauma Services for Immigrant Students: Bienestar, a Spanish word meaning "wellbeing", provides an array of mental health services to recent immigrant students who have experienced psychological trauma due to community violence or traumatic events. The objective of the Bienestar Program is to reduce trauma symptoms and improve academic outcomes for all students identified.

CBITS modification for Special Education/ low-literacy: Through our TSA Center and with an NIMH Career Development Award given to Dr. Kataoka (P.I.),  we have developed a CBITS toolkit for use with students in Special Education. This is the first evidenced based practice model of trauma informed services for LAUSD Psychological Services.

SSET Program: The Support for Students Exposed to Trauma (SSET) program is a skills-based support group for children who have been exposed to violence. SSET is based on some of the skills taught in CBITS but can be implemented by non-clinical school staff such as school counselors or teachers. The SSET program is currently being evaluated for acceptability and impact in LAUSD. More details found in the link below.
